nail polish collection
notes
- i store all my polish on a lazy susan i thrifted and spray painted lol
- because i have limited storage, but i try out new shades when i can... i purge fairly frequently :,)
- i try to avoid dupes, so even if i have two polishes that are similar in shade, they'll have a difference in texture (some exceptions are from collab collections)
- i actually don't like cremes or glitters very much lol
- i'm a sucker for shifts
- i try to avoid sheers. same price for less polish due to more coats each mani? nty
glossary
- creme: creamy and opaque, with a glossy finish; the "classic" nail polish look
- glitter: has larger, visible flecks of glitter (notoriously hard to remove lol)
- hidden shimmer: shimmer that is apparent in the bottle or direct lighting, but is very subtle on the nail
- metallic: high-shine and often reflective, like metal
- pearlescent: similar to metallic, but usually lighter, with a color shift like that of an opal or pearl
- shift: shifts between two (or more) colors depending on angle and lighting
- topper: usually sheer, but gives some sort of effect when worn over other polishes
- shimmer: sparkly, but the flecks are so small you usually can't see them individually (not hard to remove like glitter lol)
categories
- regular polishes: polishes i wear regularly. while this is a collection, the purpose of these isn't for the sake of collecting, but wearing. (altho there are some shades i'll be sad to finish a bottle of if it's been discontinued.) they live on my lazy susans
- collaboration collections: i wear these less often because they're typically limited edition. i might also have colors i favor less simply because i wanted them for the collab aspect. they're pseudo-display :,) i try to only get collab bottles if i really like the colors, the collaborator, the theme, or if they're on sale. they live on wall racks above the susans
- novelty and display: i very rarely if ever wear these; they're essentially to look cute. they live in the front of my lazy susans, or on the racks above them depending
